Hello Ken!
Bing Crosby was one of the best interpreters of Hawaiian music, notably in the 30's and 40's (but he made a nice LP in the mid 60's too). Have you any news on what we can expect on CD in the future? So far, some of the songs were released on an Australian EMI-CD, but with poor sound and not from original masters.
Maybee you could do it? Old Hawaiian music is probably not hot items among young collectors - but for me Bing's efforts in this genre stands as a milestones of what he could do with his voice. And backed with good musicians he was too (i.e Lani McIntyre).
Hope the sun will rise on what still are hidden treasures... _________________ /Stefan C

Hi Stefan,
I think the album you're referring to is "Return To Paradise Islands."
I believe it was done around 1963 for the Reprise label. It hasn't been available for many years and m as far as I know, is unobtainable now,
I recall it as a very fine album of its kind and I believe the attractibe orchestral backgrounds were the woorl of the great Nelson Riddle.
For more detailed information, I would suggest you contact Malcolm Macfarlane, author of BING CROSBY- DAY BY DAY and editor of BING magazine www.Macwilmslo@aol.com
Good luck |
