Bravo to Mr. Barnes and Laureate for producing one of my all-time favourite DVD's "Second Chorus." The most amazing thing about this DVD is the superb print obtained for a film usually seen in substandard form. The commentary between Mr. Barnes and Ava McKenzie is also very insightful and entertaining. I would like to have seen that "Ghost Upstairs" number, but even without it's a fine film, with one of the best plots in the Astaire musical catalogue. Once again, thank you very much. Cheers.

Thanks again, Scott. You seem to be as frequent a visitor to the website as Messrs Fis and McHugh ( who are also big Astaire fans ).

We were fortunate indeed in finding a near-pristine 35 mm print of "Second Chorus" - and it is, I'm convinced, the best quality rendering on the market. I must admit, I have a fondness for this movie - although Fred himself regarded it as his least favourite film. Personally, I would have liked more dancing from Fred ( who wouldn't ? ) but any film that has the great Artie Shaw band ( at its best )and lyrics by Johnny Mercer has got to be a collector's item.

So here Scott and I agree!

It's certainly one of Laureate's best, which is always to say that it's one of the best DVDs around.

I just wish there were more of this quality.

Dominic
