Dear Ken Barnes,

Speaking of Bing Crosby films, any chance of getting such rarely seen titles as Here Come The Waves and The Country Girl on DVD? The latter would certainly be a good subject for a Special Edition.

I read somewhere that Frank Sinatra's biggest grossing film was "High Society" and David Bowie's most successful single was "The Little Drummer Boy." In both cases I can see the Crosby effect at work.

Bing's biggest grossing film ? "White Christmas." His biggest grossing single? " White Christmas." While he seems to be perennially stuck with the Christmas tag, at least it gives him powerful media exposure every year. But his talent is wider than that and I agree it's time we had
"The Country Girl" on DVD.

It would be good to see a double feature Crosby DVD combining
Here Come The Waves with Out Of This World. Both, in their own way, spoofed the Sinatra - bobbysox craze. In the first, Bing played a crooner with a bobby-sox following and in the second Eddie Bracken played a crooning sensation ( with the help of the Crosby voice ).

I haven't seen either of these for a good many years and I don't know how well they have weathered the years. But if they are half as good as
Rhythm On The River or Holiday Inn, I'm sure they would gain some interesting mileage on DVD

"Here Come The Waves" and "Out Of This World" would make an interesting double feature DVD. The former has been issued on VHS but Universal have done nothing with the latter - probably because it does not star Bing Crosby ( except on the soundtrack ).

Since Universal have already given Bing a good showing with the series of
DVDs in The Bing Crosby Collection, it might be wise to wait a year or so before asking them to release more. But it's a good thought.

That is alright, but I would much rather see "Here Comes the Waves" on DVD. Bing has more quality co stars in that one.
