As a big Bing Crosby fan I'm writing to you in the hope that sometime in the future some of Bing's early 1930's films may be released on DVD. Films such as Big Broadcast & College Humor. These films will never again be shown on TV and if not released on DVD will be lost forever. Any chance?

Cheers,

David Duncan

PS: Looking forward to the "collections" released in November.

Dear Mark and David,

Thanks for your notes re. the inimtable Bing. "Pennies From Heaven" is a Columbia title. I don't know what plans Columbia UK have for releases but it is available now in the USA on Columbia.

"King of Jazz" is a Universal title but, apart from Bing and the Rhythm Boys ( and the "Rhapsody In Blue" ) the film is a bit of a museum piece.

Currently Bing is quite well represented on DVD, we released "Holiday Inn" last year. Warners issued "High Society" over here in June, we are just completing a 4-film boxed set on the first four "Roads" pictures ( which includes the wartime bond-drive 20 minute short "Hollywood Victory Caravan" with Bing, Bob and a host of vintage stars including Carmen Cavallero, Barbara Stanwyck and Humphrey Bogart ). So this, I trust, will hold you for a while.

Our association with Universal calls for a wide variety of classic boxed sets over the coming year to cater for all manner of film buffs. These will be announced over the coming months on our COMING SOON notice board.

Naturally, when we get these commitments off our back we will look at the possibility of more Bing material.

Your interest is much appreciated - so please keep in touch.

Many thanks
Ken Barnes
