I was really happy last week to see the Fred Astaire/Betty Hutton film 'Let's Dance', which I hadn't seen before, and I wondered what the origins of the story and music were - i.e. based on a stage show, random songs or new material altogether?
I, too, look forward to the next Laureate release - what demands we place on you..........!

I'm sure that Ken will come up with the definitive answer during the weekend but for the time being I offer the following:-
I'm sure it was an original Film Musical (not based on a Stage Musical.
The songs were written by Frank Loesser between his work on WHERE'S CHARLEY? and his Masterpiece "GUYS AND DOLLS"
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Fred Astaire did not enjoy working with Betty Hutton.
