Mark,
I've seen both films and what it comes down is this. Both are classics of their kind. Altman,of course, has always been a specialised director and "Nashville" is certainly one of his best efforts. It's more of a mosaic than a story. Told in a free-form way, it deals with the experiences of 24 different characters at a Nashville political rally.
"The Wild Bunch," of course, is one of the acknowledged classic westerns. Also one of the most brutal. If it's the DVD I'm thinking of, it also comes with a very good documentary on Peckinpah and the making of the film.
I don't know if the "Nashville" has any extras. I hope this helps. |
